When proofing is the answer

Treatment deals with what is already inside. Proofing is what stops it happening again.

Bird droppings are corrosive to masonry and a genuine slip hazard on a commercial entrance. Nesting material in guttering is a common cause of damp that gets blamed on something else.

We look at the whole building, not just the spot you have noticed, and identify every realistic access point.

Specify

Netting, spikes, wire systems or physical sealing, chosen for the building rather than for whatever is quickest.

Install

Fitted properly, with the right fixings for the substrate, so it lasts and does not damage the brickwork.

Clean and seal

Guano clearance where needed, then sealing the rodent entry points: airbricks, pipe runs, soffits and ground-level gaps.

What affects the price

Proofing is quoted on the building. We will walk it with you and set out what is worth doing and what is not.

  • The height and accessibility of the work, and whether access equipment is needed
  • The length of roofline, ledge or guttering involved
  • Which system suits the building and the planning situation
  • Whether guano clearance and disinfection are required
  • How much builder-grade sealing and repair work is involved

Common questions

Is it legal to remove a birds nest?
All wild birds, their nests and their eggs are protected while in use. We work within the law, which usually means proofing before the nesting season or waiting until a nest is no longer active. We will tell you which applies.
Will spikes hurt the birds?
No. Properly specified proofing deters birds from landing rather than injuring them. Badly fitted systems can cause harm, which is why specification matters.
Why does my rodent problem come back every winter?
Because the entry point is still there. Rodents move indoors as the weather turns, through the same route each year. Proofing is the only thing that ends that cycle.
Can you do the building work too?
Yes. This side of the business sits alongside a building contractor, so brickwork, soffits, roofline repairs and drainage can be quoted and carried out together rather than subcontracted out.
